Use of IBOMA

In the acrylic resin formulation, the addition of methacrylic acid cyclic ester monomer (such as IBOMA) can effectively reduce the viscosity of the polymer solution while maintaining the glass transition temperature, molecular weight and functional group amount of the polymer. Among the ring-shaped monomers, the viscosity reduction effect of IBOMA is the most obvious.

When IBOMA is used in powder coatings, the copolymer improves the agglomeration of the powder, improves the stability of the powder coating and lowers the melt viscosity, thereby improving the leveling of the coating and improving the appearance and gloss of the coating.
